Dr. Kasmiati, STP, MP completed her Doctoral Degree in Applied Molecular Biosciences at Nagoya University, Japan in 2018. With a background in food science and technology, she has a special interest in developing health-related and consumer products from the seaweeds cultivated or growing wild in Indonesian coastal waters such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and cosmetics as well as edible products to promote healthy lifestyles. She is also interested in other applications of seaweeds, for example in the renewable energy sector. A lecturer in the Fisheries Department, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University since 2003, she was recently appointed Head of the Centre of Excellence for Development and Utilization of Seaweed (CEDUS). Based in Hasanuddin University, the CEDUS has a national remit, and is open to both national and international collaboration
